Commonly used deep groove ball bearings for motors

time:2024-01-18   pv:6

The most commonly used type of bearings in motors is deep groove ball bearings. In the field of industrial motors, the usage of deep groove ball bearings accounts for more than 70% of the total usage of bearings. If in terms of quantity used, the proportion will be greater. Therefore, if electrical engineers can be very familiar with deep groove ball bearings, they can understand the application of motor bearings to a great extent.

Deep groove ball bearings, the previous domestic standard was called radial ball bearings. As the name suggests, this kind of bearing is a type of rolling bearing that bears centripetal load and has spherical rolling elements. The centripetal load mentioned here is the so-called radial load. Therefore, the main load capacity of deep groove ball bearings is in the radial direction.

At the same time, due to the structural characteristics of its channel, the bearing can withstand a certain axial load. The axial load capacity of deep groove ball bearings is much weaker than the radial load capacity. Therefore, it is necessary to check the service life of deep groove ball bearings under axial load conditions to ensure that the bearings can achieve the expected operating results under this load.

The picture below shows a typical deep groove ball bearing:

Characteristics of deep groove ball bearings

1. The ability to withstand radial loads is weaker than that of roller bearings

The load-carrying capacity of deep groove ball bearings is smaller than that of corresponding roller bearings, but it is sufficient for general industrial motor applications. Often for working conditions with additional radial loads such as external pulleys, the load capacity may not meet the requirements. In this case, cylindrical roller bearings can be used.

2. The internal friction of the bearing is relatively small and the heat generation is small.

There is point contact between the rolling elements and the raceway, so the internal heat of the bearing is relatively small. If it is a bearing with a seal, the frictional heating of the seal needs to be considered during operation.

3. The bearing has high rotation speed capability

The internal rolling elements of deep groove ball bearings are balls. Compared with roller bearings, the mass of the rolling elements is relatively small, and the centrifugal force during high-speed rotation is small. The commonly used stamped steel cages, nylon cages, etc. have relatively good strength, so The mechanical limit speed capability of deep groove ball bearings is relatively high. Correspondingly, due to the relatively low heat generation, the thermal reference speed capability of deep groove ball bearings is also relatively high.

4. Simple bearing arrangement

Deep groove ball bearings can bear both axial and radial loads, so this type of bearing can be used as either a locating end bearing or a non-locating end bearing.

5. Easy to use, convenient for storage and transportation

Deep groove ball bearings are usually integrated bearing structures, so the installation, storage and transportation of the bearings are simpler than split bearings.

6.Easy to maintain

Usually deep groove ball bearings are available in open type, with dust cover and seals, which greatly simplifies the workload of bearing relubrication and has the characteristics of simple operation and use.
